Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America Brings HDTV Home Cinema Projector

Mitsubishi`s HC2000 projector is designed for the home theater enthusiast who wants optimum quality video and high-definition images.

World’s Quietest HC2000 Offers Professional-Level Features for Home Cinema Enthusiasts

IRVINE, Calif., November 16, 2004 — Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America, the industry leader in home entertainment technology and innovation, today introduced its HC2000 projector with features that promise an extraordinary home cinema experience. The HC2000 projector offers the latest technology in video display, image excellence, noise reduction, convenient installation and HDTV compatibility in home theater projectors.

“Our challenge was to create an outstanding high performance combination of incredibly smooth video images, detail in black areas, extremely quiet operation and ease-of-use,” said Steve Medina, senior manager of product planning and development for Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America’s Presentation Products Division. “The HC2000 met and exceeded those challenges with the latest technology available in the home display arena.”

HIGH VIDEO PERFORMANCE – SMOOTH OPERATOR
Mitsubishi’s HC2000 displays stunning HDTV images thanks to its own CineView HD™ video processing technology, which processes and scales all signals for the smoothest, cleanest images. The HC2000 produces spectacular results from standard definition video sources such as DVD, cable and satellite as well.

Mitsubishi’s new HC2000 also boasts the latest DLP™ chip from Texas Instruments, known as the TI HD2+™ chip for high performance video imaging. The projector has a 4x and 5x color wheel speed selection to provide a customized viewing experience; rainbow effects from fast motion are virtually eliminated.

HIGH CONTRAST RATIO - DETAIL IN THE DARKS
Along with offering a 3600:1 contrast ratio, Mitsubishi’s new HC2000 uses a novel approach to enhancing detail in black areas in analog or digital video. To reduce internal light reflection and image noise, optical engine components are colored black, leading to clear, detail-rich images through the lens. The lens aperture is also optimized for better image reproduction in dark areas of a film or video.

The projector is designed with a distinctive 8-segment dark-video enhancement color wheel that has two palettes of red-blue-green, and two dark green segments, minimizing noise and providing more details in the shadows. This level of detail in the darks makes film noir and dark action films more vibrant and exciting to watch.

WORLD’S QUIETEST PROJECTOR – CAN’T SEE IT, CAN’T HEAR IT
The HC2000 home cinema projector uses a scirroco fan and a unique cooling duct which creates a very effective sound baffle. The resultant fan noise is as low as 23 dBA—the quietest projector available in the world today. Home theater enthusiasts using high-end audio components can enjoy the most subtle movie sounds–without distracting fan noise.

The HC2000 is also designed to fit in an out-of-the-way place to minimize viewing distraction. Using a vertical lens shift of 50 percent, the projector can be mounted directly to the ceiling with a slim bracket, and project to a 106” diagonal screen positioned 30” down from where the ceiling meets the wall. The HC2000 chassis is designed to avoid leaking any internal light, which also can detract from the projected image.

HDTV COMPLIANT – THE FUTURE IS NOW

The HC2000 offers the highest digital imaging technology today in true
1280 x 720, HDTV resolution. It also has a DVI input with
high-bandwidth digital copy protection (HDCP) compliance for use with
digital set-top boxes that distribute high quality video signals.

“HD is the buzz for everyone in the home cinema market,” said Aki Ninomiya, vice president, Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America’s Presentation Products Division. “And the HC2000 is the Mitsubishi projector everyone will be talking about.”

To create an overall home theater environment based on Mitsubishi’s technological excellence, the HC2000 can be connected to an HDTV tuner/controller such as the Mitsubishi HD-5000 and a surround sound audio system for a full cinema experience.

Pricing, Availability, Warranty
The HC2000 will be in limited distribution through a select group of A/V Specialty Retailers, and has a market price of $9,999. It is covered by a two-year limited warranty on parts and labor plus a 90-day limited warranty on the lamp.

Elegant 5200 Enhances Meridian Speaker Line

New 36in tall DSP loudspeaker echoes lines and technology of flagship products

Huntingdon, UK, November 2004—Internationally-acclaimed Meridian Audio Ltd, based in Huntingdon, near Cambridge, England, is pleased to announce the forthcoming introduction of the DSP5200, the latest addition to its expanding line of unique DSP-based loudspeakers for the highest quality hi-fi and home theater systems.

The DSP5200 takes the elegant appearance and advanced design of Meridian’s flagship DSP8000 and popular DSP7000 and delivers it in a compact package just 36 inches tall. Indeed, many of the features that make the 5200 a truly impressive smaller loudspeaker derive from the larger systems in the line. Ideal for more spacious as well as smaller rooms, these loudspeakers will do justice to any system, in almost any environment.

The self-contained system combines a 2 1/2-way crossover design, three custom drivers, three amplifiers, two multi-bit delta-sigma digital converters, digital crossovers and computers to deliver an impressive, powerful and accurate sound with full remote control over bass, treble tilt, time-correct balance, absolute phase, tweeter axis and input. The latest technology gives the DSP5200 uncompromised, precise detail with pinpoint imaging and dimensionality in both stereo and surround. Advanced signal processing packs dynamics and bass into a size that defies imagination, while DSP controls allow correction of the frequency response for a variety of locations.

Cabinet construction is of 19mm thick multi-layer materials, with proprietary heavy poured resin, and is inherently stiff with superior geometry and damping. The dual bass drivers use 160mm long-throw composite designs and the cabinet vents through an extremely effective dual rear port. This configuration, along with active operation and DSP correction, delivers a combination of smooth, powerful bass and very low mid-range coloration. The tweeter is a 25mm aluminum-dome, silver-wire design.

Each speaker incorporates an electronics panel in the rear part of the cabinet. The speaker accepts digital signals and has two inputs, placed at the base of the cabinet for maximum neatness and ease of installation. The electronic design of the DSP5200 is entirely new, and takes advantage of the latest advances in component design as well as techniques and approaches employed on the DSP8000.

The latest miniaturized surface-mount components add control and improve linearity, while the advanced high-value capacitors allow the power supply and its low-field true-toroidal transformer to be placed closer to power amplifiers, offering lower inductance and improved power performance.

The input receiver uses a FIFO (First In First Out) memory buffer for the lowest possible jitter from almost any source. At the heart of the 5200 is a new DSP system based around a 150MIPS processor, running brand new software. A built-in circuit monitoring system handles both thermal and bass protection, without compromising either sound or protection capability.

High resolution double-precision processing and upsampling, coupled with the latest 192kHz, 24-bit DACs, ensure the digital signal path is second to none.

The three 75W amplifiers themselves are again based on those in the DSP8000, with the latest error-correcting auto-biasing technology, which runs the amplifiers with maximum linearity and minimum coloration, even at high levels.

The result of all this intensive research and careful, painstaking design is a digital loudspeaker system that out-performs anything of its size, while its visual design and elegance remain second-to-none.

Meridian products are carefully designed inside and out and the DSP5200 – available in a choice of black or silver high gloss lacquer, satin Santos rosewood, natural satin maple and black ash finishes – looks as good as it sounds.

The DSP5200 is expected to begin shipping in December 2004.
Recommended retail price is $10,995

TruAudio DVA-6 Dual Voice Coil, Inceiling Loudspeaker

The new TruAudio DVA-6 Dual Voice Coil, InCeiling loudspeaker now incorporates two swiveling tweeters rather than stationary ones and a magnetic grill.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TRUAUDIO Introduces New version of Dual Voice Coil, InCeiling Speaker DVA-6

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH – September 15th, 2004 – TRUAUDIO introduced today a new twist (actually a swivel) on one of the staple products in their line-up, made it easier to install and improved the sound quality as well. The new TruAudio DVA-6 Dual Voice Coil, InCeiling loudspeaker now incorporates two swiveling tweeters rather than stationary ones, boasts a 6 ½” Aluminum Woofer and Two ¾”Aluminum Tweeters. It is the next model up from the DV-6 in the TruAudio family of Dual Voice Coil speakers. A dual voice coil speaker is a great solution to get stereo out of one speaker for use in a small room such as a bathroom or walk-in closet, where mounting space and/or budget is a consideration. However, an installer does not always get to mount the speaker where he wants to due to light fixtures, etc. Now, if the speaker needs to be mounted away from the center of the room, the swiveling tweeters will help direct the sound where the dealer wants it to go. If the speaker is mounted in the corner or towards the wall, point the tweeters toward the listening area, one pointing in the left direction, the other pointed in the right. This will offer noticeable stereo sound from one speaker. As with most of our products, TruAudio has put a lifetime warranty on the DVA-6.

The EZ GRILL™. Another improvement on the DVA-6 is the grill. Dealers have told us that a lot of the installation time installing a speaker is spent on the grill. Also, once the speaker is installed and the grill has to be removed, it has to be done from the front. Pulling the grill off using a paper clip or some other clever device by sticking it in one of the grill holes can be frustrating. The new TruAudio EZ GRILL™ takes care of this problem. This simple, yet very effective solution uses magnets to hold the grill in place. The grill fits flush due to careful engineering and tooling and does not pop out even when a loud music lover pumps lots of volume through the speaker. This grill is now being incorporated into several other new and current TruAudio speakers as well. Innovative ,simple and practical - the TruAudio EZ Grill™.

TruAudio Revolve Inceiling LCR Speaker

TRUAUDIO introduces an innovative solution for in-ceiling home theater, the REVOLVE.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TRUAUDIO Introduces New InCeiling LCR, REVOLVE

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH – TRUAUDIO introduced today an innovative solution for in-ceiling home theater, REVOLVE. Using an all-new design and the latest technology, combined with ease of installation and cosmetics once in the ceiling, REVOLVE is an evolutionary solution for in-ceiling home theater applications.

TruAudio’s REVOLVE is designed to perform as the front left, center, or right. The REVOLVE speaker is intended to be rotated to point toward the listener. Its midrange and tweeter rest on a rotating, proprietary bridge to give you even more control over the direction of the sound. Its technology represents a good year’s worth of research and development to design an in-ceiling LCR configured on the same plane whose sonic images fire directly toward the Audience. Because of REVOLVE’s forward thinking design, you will accomplish a great home theater solution without using any wall space.

TruAudio’s REVOLVE is built to deliver the exceptional sound quality expected in home theater. The lower end frequencies are reproduced using an aluminum cone woofer mounted on a 15 degree angle to better project the bass and fill the room. The midrange is reproduced using carbon fiber with its high end coming from a titanium tweeter. Extra strength baffle, level controls, dog ear mounting and micromesh aluminum grills are just a few more of the features offered. As with most of our products, TruAudio has put a lifetime warranty on REVOLVE.
