Electronic Systems Contactor

The B1630 uses (2) 8" woofers mounted on a baffle built from 1" thick MDF. This acts as the backbone of the system. The baffle is bonded to one side of the mounting frame with the active panel mounted to the opposite side. This creates an air tight chamber. The woofers fire into this chamber activating the entire face of the panel with the exception of the 1-3/4" mounting border. The mounting area is identified by a dashed line printed on the face of the panel. The active panel is constructed of a three layer combination of materials consisting of two layers of a high quality paper separated by a layer of Styrofoam. This creates a panel that is very light weight yet rigid enough to maintain the integrity of the wall. When used in conjunction with 5/8" drywall, the B1630 can be installed in framing openings as narrow as 9-1/2" between studs or ceiling joists. Minimum depth is 3-1/2".

Since it installs like a piece of wall board, finishing is left to the professional drywall tradesman. The A/V integrator need not pick up a trowel. The basic installation notes are printed on the face of every panel and a step by step photo installation guide is shipped with every pair of speakers

The Stealth Acoustics model B1630 is a two-panel monaural subwoofer speaker system designed to replace a segment of sheetrock wallboard in a standard stud wall or ceiling, becoming completely invisible after installation. Ideal for any surround sound, foreground music or whole-house audio system that needs extra bass output, each B1630 panel incorporates two acoustically coupled, high-quality, high-power 8" cone woofers. The panels are designed to work in pairs as a monaural output subwoofer. This two-panel system approach allows each panel to be placed wherever they perform best, free of visual concerns that may conflict with architectural features. The 1630 panels may be mounted separately or stacked to achieve desired acoustical results. For stereo subwoofers, four panels should be employed.

Using acoustic lever principals, the B1630 provides exceptional bass output from 20Hz to 160 Hz by trading off excursion for surface area to propagate bass waveforms. Each B1630 panel has 331 square inches of active area for a total of 662 for both panels - nearly twice that of a typical 12" woofer. Excursion is so slight it is invisible under most conditions, completely eliminating concerns of vibration affecting the final panel finish.

Each B1630 panel is designed to attach directly to standard structural framing without the need for special mounting brackets. The B1630 comes equipped to match either 1/2" or 5/8" wallboard installations. The paintable active diaphragm face is a structurally modified three-layer composite, consisting of two layers of graphics grade paper with a foam core. The diaphragm face is bonded to a solid frame creating an active area surrounded by a stable mounting area. The edges of the panel are tapered similar to the edges of gypsum wallboard, providing room necessary for the normal wallboard tape and joint compound used to feather the speaker seamlessly into the wall. On-site finishing options include latex paint, covering with light wallpaper, fabrics or selected texture coats. There is no need for special vellums or other nonstandard wallboard finishing materials to finish the panel face.

Stealth Acoustics recommends the companion model 250R 250 watt subwoofer amplifier/crossover as a matched amplifier source for the B1630 subwoofer speakers. Stealth Acoustics also offers a line of full range speaker panels that when combined with the B1630, deliver a complete, totally invisible audio solution.
